I know I probably should have written about this the day it happened but I wanted to post my favorite picture of the moment and not just throw something up and say I had written about it. My wife and I debated long and hard and spent many hours praying over whether or not we should baptize Ean at such a young age. Questions arise about the validaty and sincerity and how much a 5 year-old can actually understand.

Then we heard, the friday before the baptism, a story of Godly man who, for the same reasons we were skeptical, dodged his son’ pleadings to become a Christian until he felt his son was old enough to understand. That is until his son heard a guest speaker at the christian elementary school chapel ask if anyone in the audience would like to give their life to Christ. The protective professor’s boy was the only one to raise his hand. He prayed with the speaker and called his dad immediately after and said, “I asked Jesus into my heart and you couldn’t stop me.”

See, we sort of did the same thing. We talked about it but never put pressure on our son because we didn’tbelive he was ready. Until one day he told us he prayed on his own in his bedroom for God to forgive him of his sins and come live in his heart so he wouldn’t sin anymore.Needless to say, if it wasn’t already obvious fromt the title and the picture, we allowed Ean to be baptized and I couldn’t be more proud.

Not only was I personally able to baptize him (thank you Oak Leaf) but Jamie and I both see an obvious change in his behavior, vocbaulary, and desire to learn more about God. He asked me to read him all the stories in the Bible so we’re starting at #1 and going through Revelation. If you could only see my swollen eyes right now.

Now my other son…that’s a working progress.
