I love finding stuff like this because it shows how it only takes an idea and some determination to make something really beautiful and creative from relatively nothing new. Just so you know, the videos below are all done without CGI or massive post-production effects. They are real boats, real people, in real life environments…but everything looks like a glorified scale model.

He did this with a technique called “tilt shifting”. With the new generation of digital SLR cameras being able to also shoot HD video, we’re going to start seeing even better videos from “common folks”. The Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Nikon D90 are the 2 new DSLR cameras that can also shoot HD video. They’re really cheap too……….. Uh, no.
He may have done the depth of field adjustments in post, but it may have been done with a lens set for the tilt shift technique.

The part of me that believes in Santa wants to ask for a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. If Santa brings me one, I’ll let you know and we’ll tilt shift d-town cartersville and see how many trains clog traffic in the course of a couple of hours.
