New Series – Radical: Change Takes Sacrifice

We begin a new series this week at Oak Leaf Canton that will take us to Easter on April 24. I’m still figuring out the whole preparing messages and series stuff but I’m pretty excited about taking a look at some radical people from the Bible that made huge sacrifices in order to bring about God’s will. We’ll look at Abraham, Ezekiel, David, Hosea, the good Samaritan, and of course…Jesus.

Tell your friends. Bring your Bible. This one is going ...

New Series – New Thru 30

Posted by:

We want to take the Bible seriously. After discussing core foundational truths in our Doctrine series at the end of the year and wrapping up our spiritual disciplines series on 5 habits we can put into place that will lead to real peace, love, and happiness, the most logical step for us was to challenge everyone to read their Bible.

Elevation Church did this series a while back and we ...

I’m A Church Planter…sort of

Posted by:

Typically, church planters are given a vision and a call by God to a specific area for a specific reason with a specific mission. That is not my story. Some church planters go highly populated areas to start something they think they can do better than the those at the church they used to work for. That is not my story either.

I love my church. I love my pastor. My wife and I moved to Canton, ...

New Series Begins January 9

Posted by:

We are starting the year off with a series on spiritual disciplines. I mean, what better time to talk about all the things we SHOULD be doing to draw closer to God than when everyone is making their lists of things they want to do better. Here are my favorite things about it:

  1. Kid’s check-in is beyond simple. It allows you to use anything ...

Portable Coffee Bar

Posted by:

We love our teachers. We’re always looking for ways to bless them. There is always the typical load in of chick-fil-a biscuits. Of course, we’ve toted our party trailer and bounce house all over Cherokee county. We participate and serve at just about anything the PTAs have going on. But sometimes it’s not enough for us.  We want to serve as much as we can in the community so we try to come up with lots of fun new ways ...

What Books Should I Be Reading?

Posted by:

I don’t have a lot of New Year resolutions. But I have set some intense goals for myself as a pastor that have carried over into the new year. The biggest one is reading. I have a goal to read two books a week. By read I mean skim, hit the highlights, and write down my takeaways into Evernote. Here are the books I am currently reading:

Up Hill Both Ways Through Snow…To Get To Church?

Posted by:

There was quite the snow and ice storm on Christmas this year. Beautiful to look at…not so great to drive in. Churches were closing for services left and right so our staff started discussing what we should do. We already knew the crowd was going to be small being so close to Christmas day so it sort of seemed like the best idea considering the circumstances.

Then Jamie and I started talking football.

You see, Jamie and I love the Falcons and ...
