I’m not necessarily a fan of the beach. But I love my son. And he loves the beach. So I brought him along with me to Xtreme Summer 2011 to…well…work for me. He’s going to help me set up the product table and run it. As soon as I told him he was the boss in charge of the merch table, he was off and running making decisions and doing things his way.
He worked hard to display the candy he was giving away to draw people in…but I thought it looked sloppy.
He made his own display to “sell” paper airplanes he had made…and tested. There were three models: straight, trick, and spinning, but I told him they were upstaging the stuff we were actually selling.
He has gotten up early with me to be there before the crowds and he is the last one to leave. I hope he’s had as much fun learning and playing manager as I’ve had watching him do it.
But what would a trip to the beach be with all work and no play. Ean drove his first go-cart and was doing great…until he got a little too agressive and started trying to actually take other drivers out. We went to the batting cage and he proved he could hit almost as many of the pitches as his old man and his old man’s old man. Of course there is the beach and the pool and we might even make a trip to an upside down building.
As much as I miss my wife, I am grateful for this time with my son. He is a trooper and a good all around kid. I’m a proud dad.
