When I was younger, my father took me to this hunting ground in Moultrie, GA to hunt quail. I was probably ten and had never shot a gun in my life. My memories of these trips are pretty misty, but I’m sure I didn’t contribute too much to the hunting party and I’m sure it didn’t have too much of an impact on my life seeing as how I am not an avid hunter. Well, last year my dad asked me to take that trip again and I had so much fun I couldn’t wait to go back this year. Like I said earlier, I am not an avid hunter. I don’t even own a gun. But I can see myself making this a yearly tradition that I end up taking my boys on when they are old enough. I may never own a gun so I’ll have to make good friends who do that’ll let me borrow them once a year.
A few people have offered to take me duck hunting which I thought might be fun to try. I’ve tried deer hunting and I literally fall asleep waiting hours for the off chance a buck will find his way to my tree stand. I don’t particularly like the idea of rubbing deer urine on my outfit either (which is blue jeans and a hoodie since I don’t own any camo). For now I’m just going to stick with the little birds. It just seems like more fun to walk up to a bush, scare the birds, and shoot, than just sit around for hours and wait on something to hopefully show up. That’s probably why I’m not much of a fisherman either. Maybe if I could use dynamite.
