BLOG

January 5th, 2011 (my version)

My wife wrote a post about giving up sweets. If you’ve ever followed my blog or know me you know I’ve tried every diet known to man. I’ve confessed to food being an addiction and still have yet to overcome this particularly sinful area of my life. Gluttony is probably taking it a bit too far but the line is very blurry sometimes.

Diets are an everyday start-up that usually fail by lunch. Nobody wants to have meetings at salad bars or Sweet Tomatoes so I typically always end up with red meat and fired potatoes of some kind in front of me. I know, I know, it’s still my own fault.

As long as I’m being completely honest and vulnerable, let me lay it out like this – I do not struggle with very many things. Alcohol is not a problem for me and neither is colorful language (though I could probably keep my mouth shut more often than I do). There is literally only one woman I find attractive and I just happened to be married to her. Seriously, and maybe this means there is something wrong with my man genes (though I’d argue the opposite), I just don’t look at other women.  I don’t lie. I don’t steal. I don’t cheat. So my one major vice, the one thing I continue to struggle with on a daily basis is related to what I put into my body. And I literally hate it.

So I’m joining my wife is this no sugar endeavor. One, because I believe she needs all the encouragement and help she can get and two, I need to discipline some more self control into my life as well.

Good bye sugar.

Now if I could just learn to like to run in cold weather.
