OLC Sunday Report (11-18-07)

Posted by:

Michael asked me to start writing about the songs we sing and the production elements that go into every Sunday service – as if I don’t have enough things I’m trying to discipline myself to write about (anybody remember the last music review I did?). He wanted me to post it on the behindtheleaf.com blog site so if you read that one too, you might see this twice. Why? Well, Michael writes on like ten blogs, but I have a hard enough time managing my one. If I can get something written everyday, I am satisfied. I’ll can just copy and paste it on ten other blogs of mine nobody reads.

NOTE: Forgive my sarcasm above.

We had a special treat today at The Leaf. Lauren Boyd from Liberty University blessed us with her gifts as she worship with us and led us to sing to the King. Awesome is the Lord Most High, Sing to the King, Glorious One, Amazing Grace, and Here I Go rounded out the set list. This was the third in our Confessions of a Pastor Series entitled “I’m Not Always a Good Parent.” Michael graced us with his confession about really wanting to be a rock-star worship leader.

I have a philosophy and theory about allowing people time to respond in song after the message and Michael is allowing me to test my assumption during this series and possible the next so we are doing most of the music after the message. Problem is, we really need more music up front just because people are used to that. Time constraints built into the facilities rental contract limit us from having the 2-3 hour long services we should be having, but we’ll do the best we can with what God has given us.
