Are You Still There?

Posted by:

I know I’m not in the same blog-league as this guy or this guy or even this guy but I hope the few of you out there who check in on me from time to time have not abandoned me completely. I’ve been on a very relaxing vacation and instead of performing my usual fill-in-the-dates blogging method, I’m just going to pick up today and get back on pace. I’ve got so much to ...

Studio Day #17

Posted by:

That’s it! We are done in the studio. It is late and I will do my best to stay awake on the way home. Good news is, all the mixing is done. We’ll “live with” the tracks for about a week, take one more day to polish any minor tweaks we find between now and then, finalize the best order of songs as well as finish up the artwork, and then we’ll send it off to be mastered and printed. ...

Studio Day #16

Posted by:

Well, it has been a long time coming, but we are putting down final mixes the next few days at Steve Thomason’s studio in Cumming. Killer place. We’re working with Russ Fowler. He mixed my last studio project and won out as our favorite again in a bid battle from two other mixers. It is a long way out here from my humble abode. Maybe I’ll stop by the Premier Outlets on the way home and by me ...

OLC Sunday Report (4-20-08)

Way too much 80s stuff this week. My wife conned me into doing MJ’s Beat It before the service began. That on top of Journey’s Faithfully (lighters waving and all) and our own 80s hair band, Iron Scepter, rockin’ out Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead Or Alive via Rock Band, it was a little overkill. Lesson learned: if things change causing you to bump planned elements to another week, don’t try ...

Ean on the Bike

After a Franklin episode where the little whiny turtle conquered his fears and the eager hand from his father (i.e. me) who was getting impatient, my oldest finally took to his own and beat the Bicycle. Now, let’s see how long before he is building ramps.

Music Monday: Best of 2008 (so far)?

Posted by:

Last week some people over at All Music put together a list of all the great music of 2008 just to show that the big biz was not suffering as some have suggested. Now, there is a ton of great music on the list that I love, but then there is the other stuff. Am I so out of element that a) I’ve never even heard of some of these artists and b) ...

OLC Sunday Report (4-13-08)

olc_leaf.gif

It was a sad day at Oak Leaf Church this morning. I cried in both services when Tim Samples was brought out to be prayed over by all the people whose lives he has so deeply impacted while serving on staff at the Leaf. Everything else that happened today seems like a blur. Tim, I love you, brother, and will be praying for you everyday. You are a dear friend and it is hard ...

Interesting Survey From CCLI

CCLI polled the thousands of members who use their service and the results are interesting. Do you think this says anything about the state of the church?

  • Traditional service – 29.4%
  • About the same – 30.1%

Do you see ...
