The students at this retreat are amazing!!! Very rarely do we see the kind of response in worship we have seen with these students. It is not only encouraging but it is inspiring. Mark and Debbie, y’all have a done a great job!

Now I have a request. I used up the battery on our camera taking shots of my wife on the slopes (shes editing a video so I’ll some of the awesomeness later) and didn’t get to take any ...

I Officially Hate Delta

Posted by:

deltaeyebanner_sm.gif

My band and I were headed to Utah/Idaho to lead worship for a student event out there this weekend. My drummer was not able to go so I had to find another drummer to take his place. Not a big deal, right? Wrong! According to Delta, even though I paid for the ticket, I am not allowed to decide who gets the ticket and who does not. They overbook their flights by about 7 seats and ...

Churches Not Being Churches

Posted by:

badchurch.jpg

I read this article today from the Barna Group that statistically shows how bad a job the churches in America are doing. Bottom line, the vast majority of the younger generation polled in this three-year study have a dramatically negative perspective on Christians and the Christian church. So what are we going to do about it?

Tech Tuesday: Upgrade Your Laptop with a 500 GB 2.5″ HD

Posted by:

samsunghd.jpg

It is not available yet, but if you are looking for a very large compact hard drive to replace the puny one that came with your laptop, look no further. Other companies have successfully made 500 GB 2.5 HDs before but they would not fit in any standard case (including your laptop). Then Samsung came along and changed all that. And at $299, it is well worth the wait. Keep your ...

2 Weeks and No Blogs – Why?

Posted by:

My son did a little project at school where his teachers asked him questions about daddy and wrote down his responses. The answer next to the question “What does daddy like to do most?” were the answers, “work on his computer, sleep, and do dishes.” Now, I hardly ever do the dishes and since he also said I weighed 47 pounds, I know I’ve got take his answers with a grain of salt – sort of. Anyway, I’ve been trying ...

OLC Sunday Report (3-9-08)

Another record day at the Leaf. Several people have given their life over to the One who gives life and sustains is and I’m excited to see how God uses these people in our church and community. Week two of Kid Nation and Michael had the guts to tell parents they needed to give their children more freedom. My nephew (who lives with us) is getting his licenses Tuesday and that was that lest thing ...

OLC Sunday Report (3-2-08)

olc_leaf.gif

Today was a ton of fun. We kicked of our new series Kid Nation with a band full of elementary kids rockin out to Hanna Montana’s “Best of Both Worlds.” Michael’s message was spot on and we even got some gret responses to a new element we are trying out in our service – texting questions during the message for Michael to answer at the end of the service. It will be fun to see how ...

Messing With My Eyes

Check this out. I’ve wasted too much time this morning trying to figure out how this works.

UPDATE: for whatever reason, the cool picture I linked to earlier will no longer work, so this post is a waste.

OLC Sunday Report (2-24-08)

Posted by:

olc_leaf.gif

The service was great, had a few people give their life to Christ which is always a good thing. Some new volunteers behind the media desk knocked it out of the park. I could really feel the Spirit moving during worship. All in all, a great morning – except for one little flaw. We showed a video during pre-service that we shouldn’t have shown. Long story short, people were offended (and rightfully so, in ...
