Studio Day #14

Posted by:

More guitar parts. To The King is getting wrapped up as I’m writing this which leaves us with only three or four more tracks that need any additional guitar. We should finish those up tomorrow. We’ve got a meeting next week with the guy we are hiring to mix everything to discuss the time table and details so we can begin to give him songs that are ready to be mixed while we finish the last little touch ups. The ...

Hunting Quail

Posted by:

When I was younger, my father took me to this hunting ground in Moultrie, GA to hunt quail. I was probably ten and had never shot a gun in my life. My memories of these trips are pretty misty, but I’m sure I didn’t contribute too much to the hunting party and I’m sure it didn’t have too much of an impact on my life seeing as how I am not an avid hunter. Well, last year my dad asked ...

Oak Leaf Production Part VI

In-Ears vs. Wedges

My years, I fought against in-ear monitors. I hated the way they felt and believed they took me away from the vibe in the room (still believe that) which made it harder to connect with the audience I was trying to lead. All that changed when I was forced to use them in a college service I was playing at because the sound guy needed all the help he could get controlling the stage volume. Once I got ...

OLC Sunday Report (1-13-08)

So Michael broke a plate on stage and scarred the begeebees out of everyone. However, I will say the imagery to how we destroy something beautiful God created was creative. For those who are not keeping up, we a re in the middle of a series on life’s most searched for topics we titled “Google.” This week was on sex. Not the kind searched for on the internet, but how God intended it in our lives.

We had our highest attendance ...

Amazing Football Weekend

Posted by:

I’m really not a football fanatic, which may be obvious from the fact I stopped updating weekly picks once I realized there was no way I was going to even make the top five in our league. But I do enjoy the stories and the competition. This weekend, all the teams with the best records have made it to the semi-finals. That is how it should be. In fact, every team left looks so good right now that just about ...

Some of the rumored products to be announced are and updated iPhone to include GPS and video. They other really anticipated announcement is that of the ultra-portable mac which many believe is a 13.3 Macbook Pro that has wireless usb and flash memory instead ...

Studio Day #13

Posted by:

Back in the studio again. Ryan Gravesande is recording some additional guitar parts and we are getting all the songs ready for mix down. The last little bit is scheduled to be done the first week of February. That’s a little later than we hoped but we’ve had to work around some musician’s schedules and that has not been easy.

We finished Here I Go today and it sounds killer. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.

Guitar Hero for the “Real” Guitarist

Posted by:

Anyone who has ever played Guitar Hero knows how insanely awesome it is. Harmonix took it to a new level with Rock Band which I have been rockin’ out to with my wife since Christmas. However, this new game/device can actually teach how to play guitar or even play guitar better. It is a little pricey but it comes with a real Washburn guitar.

So if you’ve been wanting to learn guitar and have been looking for to ...

OLC Sunday Report (1-06-08)

We kicked off our new series entitled Google: Life’s most searched for topics this morning. We made some simple videos of a guy searching Google for stuff related to this week’s topics and we’ll probably continue that theme for the rest of the series. Michael made a video of himself doing the welcome and posted it on YouTube and that was one of the sites the guy on the computer went to (so…the welcome was a video of somebody watching ...
