Oak Leaf Production Part V

Posted by:

Set-up is always a beast, and I knew there was no way anyone would stick around to help me on Sunday if they had to plug all the equipment in, set-it up, then do the reverse to tear down every Sunday. So, I designed a case that rack mounts all of the equipment, has table legs in the lids to create work space, and has a connector panel so projectors, TVs, Cameras, and audio I/O (in/out) for easy plug and ...

Shouting and Whispers

2 Chronicles 20:18

“Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.” And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.”

For those of you unfamiliar with the story of King Jehoshaphat’s prayer, he basically asked God to deliver His people out of an imminent ...

Happy New Year!

Posted by:

Here are my resolutions:

  1. Finish my album (by February)
  2. Finish my “worship” study (by the end of the year)
  3. Lose 50 pounds (seriously, I’m about tired of being fat)
  4. Write 50 new songs (I’d like to make a Christmas album and do a live album at Oak Leaf this fall)
  5. Take my family on vacations (yes, plural – two and a half years of working everyday to build a full-time ministry has limited days off)

Check back with me in a week to see how bad ...

Good-Bye 2007!

Posted by:

We finished up at Xtreme this morning and headed home about as fast as we could. My parent’s dropped off the boys and we hit the road about 12:30. Jamie, my beautiful wife, has been at home by herself for the last few days with our nephew away in Blue Ridge for New Year’s Eve with his best friend. Jamie and I were going to spend New Year’s Eve at my parent’s house seeing as how it is the coolest ...

Winter Xtreme – Pigeon Forge, TN

Posted by:

We drove through the night (well, rode actually) and arrived in Pigeon Forge at approximately 5:30 AM. We started loading our equipment in at 6:00 AM and had our soundcheck at 7:00 AM. We had stale sausage and cold biscuits and gravy for breakfast at 8:00 AM. Doors opened at 8:30 AM. The morning session began at 9:30 and we went on at 9:35 AM. The crowd helped us shout out Nothing But the Blood and started a jumping a ...

Today I Autographed a Stuffed Duck

Posted by:

We are just finishing up here in Branson, MO and about to get on the bus and head to Pigeon Forge. The crowd was amazing. The spirit was moving. Hundreds of students came forward to give their life to Christ. It was a powerful display of God’s majesty closed out by a short Chris Tomlin concert that almost didn’t happen (he had a kidney stone yesterday – ouch – and postponed his set to this morning).

Amidst all the God-elements and ...

Happy Birthday to Me

Posted by:

Once again, I am far from home on my birthday. My mom told me recently she thinks I haven’t been home for my birthday since I was five or six. That’s pretty crazy. And since I am usually traveling and leading worship somewhere on my birthday (as I am right no in Branson, MO), that usually means I don’t get to be with my family on my birthday either. For the past several years, at least my dad happened to ...

Winter Xtreme Branson, MO

Posted by:

We’re up here in Branson, MO for Winter Xtreme and it is ridiculously cold. I wish it would snow. I also wish my wife and family could be up here with me. I miss them very much. Nevertheless, we are excited to leading worship again for this event. Of all the Xtreme locations we have had the privilege of playing at, this is by far our favorite (or at least mine). It is the venue and responsiveness of the ...

Merry Christmas!

Posted by:

Hope you all have a merry Christmas!

And just so you know (though I’ll try my best to make this not sound like I am bragging)…I did get Rock Band AND a Play Station 3 to play it on. Even though it was sort of a joke I posted on my blog the first of the month, my Christmas wish was answered by a to-remained-unnamed Santa figure who showed up at my house Christmas afternoon bearing gifts. I was floored. In ...

New Take On Christmas

Posted by:

It has been a culmination of several things, but I have had an eye opening revelation that will change the way I look at Christmas for the rest of my life. Maybe it started with the Re-Gift series at Oak Leaf. Maybe it was the extravagant gifts my brother, Sister, and I put together for my parent’s this year. Maybe it was the fact I really didn’t feel like I needed anything for Christmas and therefore didn’t ask for ...
