King’s Ridge Christian School

Posted by:

Sometimes I miss teaching. Especially when I walk on a campus like the one I did this morning. Wow! The band and I led worship for King’s Ridge Christian School’s chapel this morning and I can not even begin to tell you how amazing this campus looked on the outside. They told us before hand that more than 50% of the student body were probably not active in a local church so we anticipated a dead crowd and an opposite ...

How ‘Bout This Halloween Thing?

Posted by:

Tomorrow is Halloween. As a Christian, I have had many conversation with many different people with an insurmountable amount of opinions on a the Biblical position believer’s should take on Halloween. I’ve got an almost 5 year-old and a 3 year-old who love the idea of candy (thankfully they are not really into sweets) and wearing costumes. Typically we go to the Fall festival FBCW has around this time, but since Halloween falls on a Wednesday night, they canceled it ...

Studio Day #6

Posted by:

studio4.jpgCutting Keys and fixing some bass parts today. This was a last minute added day since the studio was available and we got blessed with a great keys player who was able to work it into his schedule. From this point, I’ve got to finish writing all the vocal parts, line up vocalists to do BGVs, bring in a cello payer and maybe a string quartet to cherry top it. There is also a few percussion ...

NFL Week 8

Posted by:

nfl_logo.gifI’m getting these in a little later than usual. This week has been a little crazy so I’ve been out of sync for quite some time. We made our picks on time for our league but that is just a reply to an email. I’ve to waste a little more time rearranging all these pictures for really no one’s pleasure but my own. So for those of you who think I posted these picks too late, ...

OLC Production Team Costume Party

Posted by:

Today was a busy day for me. It started in the studio finishing up guitar tracks and then I had to trek up to my parents and host a costume party we had for all the people that work on our production team at Oak Leaf Church. I hyped pretty big my famous family recipe for grilled out hamburgers so I was praying real hard they would satisfy. I didn’t hear any complaints and as far as I know no ...

Studio Day #5

Posted by:

studio5.jpgThat’s a wrap for the guitars. We may come back and add a few more if the song sounds like it needs it after we add keys, strings and whatever else we are thinking about throwing in there. The studio is closed to morrow so we will pick back up Wednesday. My brother leaves for Korea on Tuesday so most of next week will be spent with me writing vocal parts and maybe putting together a ...

Studio Day #4

studio2.jpgToday was a little slower than the last few because we were only working on guitar. It is amazing how much a few more guitar parts in a song can make it sound so much bigger. I’ve done very little today. I’ve sung a few a lines here and there to help Rico (the guitar player) track his parts and provided a little moral support as he rips it up and I sit on the couch ...

Studio Day #3

studio7.jpgWe did it! We squeezed in five more songs today and finished the twelve we were hoping for before Paul Stivitts (the drummer) had to fly back to New York. Now it is on to overdubs of guitar, keys, and accessory instruments and then we’ll finish up the vocals and BGVs before we send it off to be mixed. Most of the tracks sound really full even with only one guitar part and no keys. It ...

Studio Day #2

Posted by:

studio3.jpgKnocked out another four tunes today. Two I love, one that is just so-so (needs some more instruments) and one that rips my face off. Seriously, “My Everything” give me goose bumps everytime I hear especially considering the message Michael gave last week and my constant struggle to give God all of me. It is massive!!!

Anyway, we’re moving along and have five more to get done tomorrow. That ought to be interesting considering how long it ...
