New Series Begins January 9

Posted by:

We are starting the year off with a series on spiritual disciplines. I mean, what better time to talk about all the things we SHOULD be doing to draw closer to God than when everyone is making their lists of things they want to do better. We will be covering five habits that are guaranteed to lead to a better you.

January 5th, 2011 (my version)

My wife wrote a post about giving up sweets. If you’ve ever followed my blog or know me you know I’ve tried every diet known to man. I’ve confessed to food being an addiction and still have yet to overcome this particularly sinful area of my life. Gluttony is probably taking it a bit too far but the line is very blurry sometimes.

Diets are an everyday start-up that usually fail by lunch. Nobody wants to have meetings at salad ...

Oak Leaf Canton Hearts the City

Posted by:

We’ve started using a database system called the City. Mainly because none of us in Canton particularly enjoyed using Fellowship 1 but also because it has amazing potential to help us create a whole new level of community between everyone who attends out church 7 days a week. Here are my favorite things about it:

  1. Kid’s check-in is beyond simple. It allows you to use anything ...

Portable Coffee Bar

We love our teachers. We’re always looking for ways to bless them. There is always the typical load in of chick-fil-a biscuits. I love the Falcons. I have since I had to teach elementary kids the dirty bird dance on their run for the super bowl in 1998. My love for the game and strength a a fan has increased every year since. Last night I was not only blessed to see one of the biggest games of the year from an executive suite at the dome but got to ...

Up Hill Both Ways Through Snow…To Get To Church?

Posted by:

There was quite the snow and ice storm on Christmas this year. Beautiful to look at…not so great to drive in. Churches were closing for services left and right so our staff started discussing what we should do. We already knew the crowd was going to be small being so close to Christmas day so it sort of seemed like the best idea considering the circumstances.

Then Jamie and I started talking football.

You see, Jamie and I love the Falcons and ...
