There are several conferences, classes, books, etc., etc., etc., available for church leaders looking to start fresh or add momentum. But as we all know, reading a book or sitting through a conference can only go so far in being applied to the reality of your church’s situation.

I want you to understand what I’m talking about when I say leadership development in the church should be discipleship development. If you pour into someone and that person becomes a great leader, wonderful. But all you have is a great leader. At least that is how I look at it from the filter of church work. I’ve been reading all these books on leadership geared towards leaders in the “secular” sector and can’t help but wonder if all the church leaders out there trying to apply the same principles aren’t completely missing the bigger picture.
