Truly Happy

Posted by:

But if you turn aside from following me, you or your children, and do not keep my commandments and my statutes that I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, then I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, and the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight, and Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. – 1 Kings 9:6-7

This ultimatum has been passed down for every generation since Adam and Eve. Worship God and he will bless you. Choose not to worship God and He will ruin you. So how does this warning become administered to those who obviously choose not to worship God and yet appear to be quite blessed?

Anyone could create a list of famous celebrities, sports figures, and business personalities who are financial giants but put little stock in God and His will. The question then becomes, “Are they happy?” Not just saying they are or giving the appearance of happy, but really happy.

Take Solomon for example. He was one of the richest men to walk the face of the, had over 700 wives, and was blessed with the gift of magnificent wisdom. However, the happiness he sought in wealth and women eventually led him astray. Is it possible the only way to be completely happy is to faithfully follow and obey the will of God and give Him the true and absolute worship he deserves? That is what I believe.
