I don’t have a lot of New Year resolutions. But I have set some intense goals for myself as a pastor that have carried over into the new year. The biggest one is reading. I have a goal to read two books a week. By read I mean skim, hit the highlights, and write down my takeaways into Evernote. Here are the books I am currently reading:
- The Blue Parakeet by Scott McKnight - I just liked the title and the cover…but you know what they say.
- Radical by David Platt – 3 chapters in and it is blowing my mind. We’re doing a series inspired by this book in March.
- Just Walk Across the Room by Bill Hybels – I’m naturally and introvert and I’m trying to correct it.
- Politics According to the Bible by Wayne Grudem – this is really a text book but I thought since I like politics and the Bible this would be great.
- Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend – If you know me and how often I don’t say no then you know why this book is important.
- Christ-Centered Preaching by Bryan Chapell – now that I’m teaching I need all the help I can get.
So what are you reading? and what books should I be reading?
